Headed For the State Line

All you hear lately is people saying, “How long can this go on?” Reminds me of the old Lee Dorsey tune “Working In The Coal Mine.”

One thing that’s getting people through is comfort food. We're reaching for things that trigger a memory of simpler, better times. The stuff a lot of us ate growing up. Believe it or not, Chef Boyardee, Oscar Mayer, Hamburger Helper, Cheez Whiz and Spam are all selling like hotcakes. Hotcakes are still selling pretty well too.

I’m always surprised when I hear what people’s go-to comfort food is. Ol’ George W. Bush liked his baloney sandwiches. Elvis liked his peanut butter, banana and bacon. Here’s what I’m turning to these days: State Line potato chips, Heluva Good French Onion Dip and Heineken in a can. Nothing beats a cold one in a can after mowing the lawn, baby.

How about you? What have you been eating? Slim Jims? Circus peanuts? Big League Chew? It’s OK, you can admit it.

Keep your dukes up.
