The Baloney Report

Yeah yeah, every now and then Buck Norman swings by with a coupla baloney sandwiches, a bag of State Line potato chips, and a six-pack of Moxie. He keeps me up to speed on what’s going on out there. The other day he got things rolling by ranting about how everyone’s wearing pajama pants in public these days. That’s too casual for Button-Down Buck. He says the pajama bottom revolution is a hangover from the pandemic when everyone was working from home. According to Buck, if you’re wearing pajama pants during the day, you’re sleeping on the job.

With all the cellphone issues these days—from network failures to weather emergencies to fears of cyberattacks—Buck is also leading the charge for a return to the days of the landline. He claims it’s a superior technology. Better sound quality. More comfortable to hold. And makes it a lot easier to avoid people you don’t want to talk to.

On the way out, Buck asked if I wanted to take a ride to the hardware store with him. When we got into his Buick, I saw that he had a CD player on the console. I was just talking to my client and friend Denis Gagnon about this. It bugs the hell outta both of us that they don’t put CD players in the car anymore. By Buck's calculations, 7 in 10 Americans want a CD player in the car. Let’s put ‘em back.

Keep your dukes up.
