The Same Is Lame
Whoa, Jackson! Whatta ya know, Moe?
Just when I thought all was lost, the game has changed. Last week I talked about the uproar created by the Tailgate Picnic sign and slogan line “The Insults Are Free.” People all over the place responded and said put the damn slogan back! People ordered the T-shirts with the slogan—in one case 6 at a time.
The week before, I talked about the Blessed Sacrament calendar and the poster we did that almost got the principal Sister Louise Thomas thrown out of the order. Big response to that one too. People were laughing like hell and ordering this year’s calendar even if they had no connections to the school.
When you do something different, with some personality and maybe some fun, the vocal minority surfaces immediately. The caution flag is out and the business or organization gets scared straight and pulls the plug. The squelchers win.
Not this time, Bucko. You gotta have the courage to stay the course. It works. As Buck Norman says, “The same is lame.”
The riskiest thing you can do is play it safe. And that’s no bullwinkle. Keep on truckin’ and keep your dukes up.
