Rambling On

OK so I’m going to go Ramblin’ Jack this week and just tell ya what I’m picking up out there.

People who are working from home are outfitting backyard sheds as sanity office space

And because a lot of folks are working at home, the long-gone ritual of the family dinner has made a comeback. Good conversations around the table and that’s a good thing.

Workers from home have been spotted styling it up wearing the Ferris Bueller sweater vest. You know, the one he wore over a white T-shirt on the float singing “Twist and Shout.”

Hot dogs are selling well because they’ve got that take-me-out-to-the-ballgame appeal.

Footwear sales are down around 20% but those goofy goddamn Crocs are up 48%.  Comfortable is selling.

Airbnb switched from renting city sites to lake cabins, beach cottages and anything that’s a remote location. That move saved the business. People just want to leave the world behind.

Gone are the days of the lonely Maytag repairman. Because people are home more, appliances are breaking down left and right with heavier use. So now there’s a real demand for repair people and a big shortage of them. A good steady job with good wages and a good future. Tell your kid to think about taking up the trade.

Levi’s jeans were not selling well at the start of the pandemic, but now the stiff, skinny jeans are out of style. You know, the kind that “Slim Suit Crowd” member Jared Kushner probably wears. Levi’s lazier, relaxed fit 501 jeans are flying again. Like I said, comfortable sells.

Anyway, Tuesday is Election Day and however it turns out, all I know is America wants America back. So to remind you of who we are and where we come from, listen to this song and sing along if it helps. Keep your dukes up.
