seeing Stars
Hey, ya gotta admit the outdoor shower is one of the coolest things ever. Those open-air turbo sprinklers have been popular forever at New England beaches and lakes. You can look up at the sky, the stars, and the moon. Use ‘em rain or shine. As people always say, “There’s nothing more exhilarating.”
My son Gainer has one at his house and he uses it until there’s frost on the manure patch. My dad had one built at my parents’ summer place at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport. That heavy-duty spray gun is still going full steam. In crazy times like these, it’s a relaxing getaway. A little piece of heaven on Earth. Some people bring a waterproof radio—and everybody makes sure they have a ledge for a beer or a glass of wine. Yowza!
The only thing to watch out for is a skunk crawling under the door. Not good. Years ago, we branded a Kennebunkport home construction builder Welcome Back Cottages. And later there was a spinoff we called Shower Outside for builders of outdoor showers along the Maine coast. Taking a shower outdoors isn’t just about rinsing off the sand and salt after a day at the beach. It’s a big to-do Sluggo, especially when you crack open a cold can of beer and sing “Twist and Shout” like Ferris Bueller. Yessiree, Bob.
Keep your dukes up.
