B.S.
Yeah, so for the last few years we’ve designed, pro bono, the calendar for Blessed Sacrament School in Holyoke. I did a stretch in the joint. So did three of my kids. We fondly call the school B.S. and so does everybody else. The calendar is the major fundraising piece for the school. For our efforts, we get to throw in an ad at the back end of it.
This year, we stole a line from a late, great friend of ours, Brian Trelease. The boys and I would frequently have dinner with Brian in one of the booths at The Fort. A couple of times, a priest was in the booth in front of us. Brian would always pick up the clergyman’s check, saying, “I think that might be my only way to get into heaven.”
So this one was inspired by him:
We got involved in the calendar a while back when the principal Sister Louise Thomas asked us to help her promote the calendar and boost sales.
This is what we came up with:
It never ran and Sister Louise almost got expelled from the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Hey, whatta ya gonna do?
So to wrap up this shindig, how about this TV ad for SuperValu supermarkets in Ireland? Great spot for the times. Keep your dukes up.
