ABOUT US

Darby O’Brien is an independent, family-run, branding, design, advertising and public relations firm headquartered in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Starting in 1980, the same year Dutch Reagan took office, Darby's gut instincts and out-of-step creative strategies have led his tight-knit band of writers and designers through the creation and execution of countless successful print, TV, web and political campaigns.

Darby O'Brien — The Eagle

The guy with his name on the door. The guy in the striped tie, navy blue blazer and Levi-Strauss blue jeans. The guy in the glasses. The guy who never looks like he got a haircut, even when he just came back from a haircut. The guy who’ll tell you they said the same thing about JFK.

Gainer O'Brien – Creative Director

Gainer ostensibly works on new business, media strategy and concept development. He’s rarely seen in the office past 4 o’clock, but he’s always ready with a high hat and a glad hand in a barroom or on the golf course. You haven’t worked here until you’ve had to completely re-do a job after Gainer gave you a bum steer.

Joe O'Brien – Lazy Copywriter

Joe’s favorite words are “it’s a design job.” That’s one less pun headline or boilerplate cut-and-paste treatment for him to crank out between naps. He makes the Maytag repairman look like a multi-tasker. Some of the puns ain’t bad, though.

Jenn Thibault — Account Manager

Jenn keeps a lot of balls in the air, puts out many fires and accommodates Lefty’s massive treat intake. But we mainly keep her around because of those damn pies she makes for everybody on their birthday. The pie is good.

Becky Torres — Account Manager

Becky’s been crunching the numbers and balancing the books here since Roy Orbison was alive. After Roy died, Becky played his music so often that even people in the office who previously loved Roy voted to yank him from the house stereo. Becky reacted by putting solo Art Garfunkel albums into heavy rotation. This led to an emergency vote which brought Orbison back for good.

Leon Gorani — Art Director

Leon was born in Kosovo and showed a talent for drawing at a very young age. Today, as a grown-ass man, he’s an ace at creating logos, illustrations, packaging design, and more—all while cranked up on high-test coffee and NSFW comedy podcasts. To unwind, Leon likes to drive his Jeep with the doors off and the top off.

Zac Sawtelle — Art Director

Zac once thought he had mono for an entire year, but it turned out he was just really bored. These days, he keeps himself busy with stellar design work. And being a dad. He may like to wear short shorts, but he puts in long hours and is still swinging in the final rounds of revisions. When the whistle blows, you can find him wandering in the wilderness or making the world’s worst dad jokes.

Lefty O'Brien — Dog

The real charm and personality of the outfit. Unlike his lazy copywriter father, Lefty can doze openly without fear of being fired on the spot. Also unlike his father, Lefty is a beloved figure in the office and around the Village Commons. Except for that one delivery guy. He don’t like Lefty one bit.
