Turn Up The Lights

2020 is the year of the out of whack Christmas lights.

Goddamn it, we’re blasting back at COVID-19 with over the top, tacky, goofball, nuthouse Christmas decorations. Sales of outdoor string lights are up 194%. Everybody has gone Griswold.

A guy in upstate New York, Tim Gay, holds the Guinness World Record with 670,000 Christmas bulbs on his house. He says, “It’s been such a dark year, which makes a light display even brighter.”

Excess this year is good and good for us. It lifts everybody’s spirit. So hop in your jalopy and play some tunes and drive around looking at all the lights. And check out this TV spot from Doc Morris, a Dutch mail-order pharmacy. It’s inspiring.
