The Driveway
I always thought the most fun thing you could put in your driveway was a basketball hoop. But these two brothers, Craig and Matt Taylor, came up with something even I never would’ve thought of—a miniature public house parked right next to your jalopy.
The rig is called The Wee Irish Pub. I’d have called it the politically incorrect Paddy Wagon, a tip of the cap to all the Irishmen who got to ride around on the back of that police van, but other than that, I think it’s a brilliant idea.
This 7x17 pub is available for rent. It can hold 12 people and has a small bar, a refrigerator, and taps for kegs. It’s perfect for an off-the-cuff get-together with family, friends, and neighbors in these crazy times.
Getting people’s minds off today’s troubles was what the Taylor brothers had in mind when they cooked this idea up in the backyard sitting around the firepit. Reminds me of the bull sessions my family has up in Maine. Throwing some logs in the pit, lighting stogies, and lowering down Jamesons.
The Wee Irish Pub recently got a call from someone who had a terminally Ill relative who’d always wanted to go to Ireland but never made the trip. So they brought the pub to her driveway and gave her a little taste of the Ould Sod. The boys done good.
Keep your dukes up.
