Winning Isn’t Everything

Yeah yeah, my son Gainer tipped me off about this clip of the last inning of the Little League World Series, when Lake Mary Florida rallied back to win the championship game against Chinese Taipei. The Florida player bunted and the catcher scooping the ball overthrew it to the first baseman. That sent a runner home and a win for Florida after they were trailing the entire game.

Hey, this was the first championship for Florida after nine tries. Nice win for the USA team. Just goes to show that Buck Norman’s old saying still rings true: Don’t quit, that’s the trick.  But maybe the best part of this game was the sportsmanship the Florida team showed the heartbroken Taipei kids. Take a look at this:

Maybe politicians and a divided nation can learn something from how they treated the losing team. Lately, kids have been doing a good job of showing adults how to act.

Keep your dukes up.
